Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 1,435
Could Ukraine hold a presidential election right now? Will Europe use frozen Russian assets to fund war? How can Ukraine rebuild China ties? 'Ukraine is running out of men, money and time' The death toll from a Russian attack on a passenger train in Ukraine's Kharkiv region on Tuesday rose to six, after the remains of several bodies were recovered from the wreckage, the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office said on the Telegram messaging app. At least six people were injured in a Russian missile attack on Ukraine's Zaporizhia region, the head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, said on Telegram.

Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 1,392
What is in the 28-point US plan for Ukraine? 'Ukraine is running out of men, money and time' Can the US get all sides to end the war? Why is Europe opposing Trump's peace plan? Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said explosions were heard in the Ukrainian capital and warned people to stay in shelters late on Tuesday night as air defences worked to repel a Russian attack. Russian forces launched a "massive" drone attack on Ukraine's Sumy region, targeting energy infrastructure and causing electricity blackouts, Governor Oleh Hryhorov said on Telegram late on Tuesday night.

Is Russia testing NATO with aerial incursions in Europe?
Can Ukraine restore its pre-war borders? How is Russia replenishing its military? Is Russia testing NATO with aerial incursions in Europe? Denmark was forced to close its northern Aalborg airport on Wednesday when unidentified drones were detected in its airspace. This follows Monday's sighting of drones close to Copenhagen's airport.

Appendix A Proof for Proposition
We restate the proposition 1 and its proof here. Given Beta embedding S, S is a fixed point of N N: N (N ( S)) = S. 2. Given Beta embedding S, we have I ({S, S,..., S}) = S. Proof. Then we naturally have S = I ( {S,..., S}) . Here we discuss the computation complexity of representing any given FOL query using the De Morgan's laws (DM) and the disjunctive normal form (DNF). Then for each query structure, we use pre-order traversal starting from the target node/answer to assign an entity/relation to each node/edge iteratively until we instantiate every anchor nodes (the root of the query structure). Table 7: Number of training, validation, and test queries generated for different query structures.
Drone war, ground offensive continue despite new Russia-Ukraine peace push
Russia and Ukraine have launched a wave of drone attacks against each other overnight, even as Moscow claimed it was finalising a peace proposal to end the war. Ukrainian air force officials said on Tuesday that Russia deployed 60 drones across multiple regions through the night, injuring 10 people. Kyiv's air defences intercepted 43 of them – 35 were shot down while eight were diverted using electronic warfare systems. In Dnipropetrovsk, central Ukraine, Governor Serhiy Lysak reported damage to residential properties and an agricultural site after Russian drones led to fires during the night. In Kherson, a southern city frequently hit by Russian strikes, a drone attack on Tuesday morning wounded a 59-year-old man and six municipal workers, officials said.

Russian drones hit Ukraine power plant, leaving residents in the cold
Russian drone strikes have damaged a thermal power plant in Mykolaiv in southern Ukraine overnight, leaving 46,000 consumers without heating as temperatures plunge below freezing, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said. "This was done deliberately to leave people without heat in sub-zero temperatures and create a humanitarian catastrophe," Shmyhal said on the Telegram messenger app. Russia attacked Ukraine with 143 drones overnight, but the Ukrainian military said it shot down 95 of them, while 46 did not reach their targets, likely thanks to the use of electromagnetic countermeasures that disrupt drone attacks. At least one person was injured in the overnight attacks which also damaged houses in the Kyiv region, Ukrainian officials said. The temperature in Mykolaiv is expected to fall to minus 7 degrees Celsius (19.4 Fahrenheit) on Sunday night.

United in Diversity? Contextual Biases in LLM-Based Predictions of the 2024 European Parliament Elections
von der Heyde, Leah, Haensch, Anna-Carolina, Wenz, Alexander
Large language models (LLMs) are perceived by some as having the potential to revolutionize social science research, considering their training data includes information on human attitudes and behavior. If these attitudes are reflected in LLM output, LLM-generated "synthetic samples" could be used as a viable and efficient alternative to surveys of real humans. However, LLM-synthetic samples might exhibit coverage bias due to training data and fine-tuning processes being unrepresentative of diverse linguistic, social, political, and digital contexts. In this study, we examine to what extent LLM-based predictions of public opinion exhibit context-dependent biases by predicting voting behavior in the 2024 European Parliament elections using a state-of-the-art LLM. We prompt GPT-4-Turbo with anonymized individual-level background information, varying prompt content and language, ask the LLM to predict each person's voting behavior, and compare the weighted aggregates to the real election results. Our findings emphasize the limited applicability of LLM-synthetic samples to public opinion prediction. We show that (1) the LLM-based prediction of future voting behavior largely fails, (2) prediction accuracy is unequally distributed across national and linguistic contexts, and (3) improving LLM predictions requires detailed attitudinal information about individuals for prompting. In investigating the contextual differences of LLM-based predictions of public opinion, our research contributes to the understanding and mitigation of biases and inequalities in the development of LLMs and their applications in computational social science.

Evaluating GPT-3.5's Awareness and Summarization Abilities for European Constitutional Texts with Shared Topics
Greco, Candida M., Tagarelli, A.
Constitutions are foundational legal documents that underpin the governmental and societal structures. As such, they are a reflection of a nation's cultural and social uniqueness, but also contribute to establish topics of universal importance, like citizens' rights and duties (RD). In this work, using the renowned GPT-3.5, we leverage generative large language models to understand constitutional passages that transcend national boundaries. A key contribution of our study is the introduction of a novel application of abstractive summarization on a multi-source collection of constitutional texts, with a focus on European countries' constitution passages related to RD topics. Our results show the meaningfulness of GPT-3.5 to produce informative, coherent and faithful summaries capturing RD topics across European countries.

How English is YOUR hometown? Scientists reveal the place names that are the most 'archetypically English' - so, is yours on the list?
England is famous for its eccentric place names, from'Matching Tye' to'Fingringhoe' and'Upton Snodsbury'. But a new AI study now reveals the most English-sounding locations in the country – and they certainly conjure up images of cricket and afternoon tea. The study shows that'Harlington', a district of London, is the most archetypal English place name, along with'Widdington' in Essex and'Colworth' in West Sussex. It contrast, 'Anna', a settlement in Hampshire, is the least English-sounding, along with'Belgravia' in London and'Moira' in Leicestershire. Although AI was used to determine the language basis of English place names, not the meaning, the results could reveal more about the history of the locations.
